Candle Burning Hints

To get the most from your candle it takes a little care. You give all your treasured possessions a little care, when you do the same with your candle it will last longer and give you more pleasure.

After you light your candle allow the wax to melt out to the edge of the container, this changes the surface tension of the wax and helps prevent “tunneling” where your candle burns down not out. The next time you light your candle the wax will melt out to the area that has been melted previously quickly then burn down so you see its important to let it burn to the edge each time.

We use 100% cotton wicks so the best way to extinguish your candle is to push the wick into the melted wax then return the wick upright this will prevent the wick “smoking”

Finally before you relight your candle trim the wick to 5 mm in length to give you an even flame.

Tools to use.

A pair of nail or toe clippers is ideal as it has the file to push the wick into the melted wax and the clippers to trim the wick for you.

There are tools designed for the job too if you wish to spend the extra money a wick dipper is great especially for my large wax creations.

The wick trimmer is a wonderful item as its bowl holds the trimmed wick so you do not leave any debris in the wax.
